Motif covers all key areas of a Garment manufacturing unit.

If there is a return of a garment from a customer, it is possible to know from which bale or roll of the fabric it was made and when. When an item is packed, it is possible to know what is the quantity of that item under production, at what stage, what are the pending orders, and how much is in current stocks.

Budgeted costs v actual costs
At every stage, actual values are compared with the budgeted or estimated values.

Cutting Averages are predefined for each style, and actual cutting average is compared with it.
Standard costs covering fabric and stores for each style can be defined and actual costs can be compared with it. Estimated orders expected to be received against each style can be listed and actual orders received against that style can be compared with it.

One data is fed only once
One data lies at only one place and hence data integrity is ensured.

When a customer places an order, the same data is transferred to orders accepted, and the same data is used to issue Delivery challans, Invoices, view Pending Orders etc. Once the data is fed in a cutting report, same data is used to record other activities like stitching, processing, finishing etc.

Customer Relations
The customers can be serviced more efficiently resulting in closer relationship with them.

Customers can be allowed to view stocks on line. They can be allowed to view their pending order position online. As soon as an Invoice is raised, it can be emailed to the customer so that he knows in advance what goods have been shipped to him. The customer can also be informed of the invoice details via SMS on his mobile phone. Invoice wise outstanding can be made available to the customers online. As order related data has to be fed only once, the time between receipt of an order, and its servicing can be reduced substantially. The customer will have greater confidence in the details appearing on the invoice and the goods physically sent. Details like item wise orders accepted v material sent is available on line which gives an efficient manner of managing customers’ orders. Details of goods lying at customers place are also easily available if he enters the outgoings (Goods sold or returned) so that replenishments can be done easily.

Cost effective
Reduces communication and documentation costs

Invoices are emailed rather than faxed. Very cost effective in case of upcountry dispatches. Any person can log on to the site and access or feed in information that he is authorized to do. So he need not send the information on mail to the head office. Customers can directly place orders and those need not be communicated through telephone or fax to the Head office. All the records are maintained on the internet; hence only primary records need to be maintained at the Head Office. Managing the application becomes easier as software personnel can service the needs from their own offices without having to come to your office. This servicing can be done at odd hours as well. All this results in lower management costs. Data can be fed by any person having ordinary knowledge of computers. This data is processed by the application, and reports for top management are prepared directly, thus eliminating the need for middle level managerial persons required to process the data for presentation to top management.
For multi location manufacturing units, the cost savings is even more substantial as data duplication is almost eliminated.

Data access any time from any place
Internet is available at most of the places and hence data can be accessed from anywhere at any time.

Salesmen need not come to office to convey orders received. They can do it from the customers end, or from a cyber café nearby. Matters like pending orders, outstanding accounts, material not moving etc can be viewed from homes or otherwise at a time most convenient to users. Packing instructions can be issued from Head office. Dispatch dept can print the packing slip and pack accordingly. Hence Dispatch Dept can be located away from Head Office.

Bar Coding
Lables can be Bar coded and Packing slips issued by simply scanning the material.

All incoming material in the Despatch Dept can be bar coded. While removing material, simply open a Packing Slip for the customer, and scan the items being sent. Packing Slip and Invoices will be made automatically.

VAT
The application prints excise invoice and generates information for submission to sales tax authorities.

Excise invoice is printed directly from the application. Sales Tax Register is also printed from the application.

Accounting Records
All accounts can be maintained in the application.

Entries for fabric purchase, Stores purchase, sales and Sales return are passed automatically in the financial records. Entries regarding Job Working charges can also be passed. Other normal accounting entries can also be passed and General Ledger and Trial Balances can be printed on line.

Application can be used by any computer literate
Information is fed in through user friendly forms.

New information is fed in by a responsible person in the plan. Subsequently, people lower down the order can input only quantities. Hence if say red color in a style has not been planned for production, order for that item can never be entered. Data entry is done by selection from drop downs only and only the information necessary for filling that form appears there reducing the chances of wrong entries.

Reporting
User chooses what he wants to see and in what order.

User can choose the city, and/or style nos to view Customer wise dispatches. User can view a particular style or a set of styles in stocks. He can view stocks of particular fabric.
